Bob graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in Management/Labor Relations and a minor in Economics. He attended the University of Iowa and received his J.D. with distinction in December, 1983.
Bob earned his license to practice in the State of Illinois in 1984 and immediately opened his own office in Schaumburg. Throughout his career, Bob has handled matters in virtually every area of law, including real estate, domestic relations, commercial litigation, corporate, personal injury, criminal law and estate planning.
Bob is presently a partner in the law firm of Riffner Barber LLC. Since 1997, he has limited his practice to commercial litigation and commercial transactional work. Bob has been active in various bar associations and recently spent three years as the chairman of the Civil Litigation Committee for the Northwest Suburban Bar Association. He has tried jury and bench trials to verdict in Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Kane and Will Counties.

Scott Barber

Scott Barber received his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in 1980 and his law degree from Valparaiso University in 1984. Following law school, Scott opened his own office in the Northwest suburbs and has been practicing there ever since. He merged his practice into Riffner, Barber & Scott in 2002.
Scott represents plaintiffs on workers compensation claims, personal injury matters, and commercial litigation matters. He has tried numerous bench and jury trials. From 1988 to 1994 Scott taught legal writing at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine. He is president of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association and was the co-chairman of the NWSBA Civil Litigation Committee. He has been named as a Super Lawyer in Chicago Magazine’s 2009 “Top Attorneys in Illinois” edition.

Steven Migala is an attorney with Riffner Barber LLC engaging in banking, corporate and estate planning and probate matters. In his banking practice, Steve represents banks and other financial institutions in the negotiation and documentation of commercial loans and counsels them in connection with loan workouts and foreclosures. Steve also acts as an outside general counsel to numerous entrepreneurs and privately held firms through the course of their formation, operation and termination, whether by way of acquisition, merger or dissolution. His estate planning and probate practice includes representing such entrepreneurs in connection with their estate and succession planning needs.
Steve has a wealth of experience acquired in both large and small firm settings and is active in the Chicago Bar Association, having served as the chair of its Corporation & Business Law Committee from 2006 to 2007. He is a member of the Village of Streamwood's Plan Commission.
